Holiday Ornament Contest

Rules and Regulations:

 

  1. The "Holiday Ornament Contest" is sponsored by the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era's Crafting 101 section.
  2. No purchase necessary.
  3. To participate, contestants need to make hand-made, holiday ornaments and mail them in to be judged by Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. judges to determine the winners.
  4. For persons age 13 or older (as of November 1, 2009), holiday ornaments will be judged in 3 categories: Whimsical, Traditional and Religious. There will be a fourth judging category for ornaments made by children ages 12 and under (as of November 1, 2009).
  5. All contestants and/or guardians of contestants under age 18 agree to provide Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. with documentation that confirms the age of any contestant upon request or forfeit the opportunity to be eligible for the prizes.
  6. All ornaments presented for judging must be hand-made, and must be the original work of the person submitting the entry. Hand-made ornaments purchased at craft shows or stores are not eligible.
  7. Ornaments must be between the following measurements: a minimum of 2" wide x 2" deep x 2" high...up to a maximum of 6" wide x 6" deep x 12" high. Ornaments below or above these size requirements will be ineligible for prizes.
  8. All ornaments being entered must be mailed to Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. at the following address: Holiday Ornament Contest,

  9. You may enter as many ornaments as you wish. Limit one ornament and information/entry form per package.
  10. All contestants must include in each mailed package one ornament, plus a piece of paper with (1) the contestant's printed full name, (2) address, (3) telephone number, (4) age as of 11/1/09 and (5) signature. For contestants age 17 & under, the piece of paper should also include the (1) printed name of parent or guardian and (2) signature of parent or guardian. This may be legibly hand-written, or typed or printed out using a computer and printer. This should not be attached to the ornament, just included loose in the same box..
  11. Entries may be received at Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. starting 11/6/09. Deadline for receiving entries at Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. is: December 12, 2009.
  12. There are three prizes for the age 13 and older category, one per category. Prizes are $25.00 gift certificates from Stauffer's of Kissel Hill. There is one prize for the age 12 and under category. Prize is a $25.00 gift certificate from Stauffer's of Kissel Hill. The total value of the Holiday Ornament Contest prizes is $100.00. No cash substitute for any prize.
  13. Prizes limited to individuals. Limit one contest prize awarded per household. Businesses or organizations are not eligible to enter.
  14. Winners will be notified by telephone and arrangements made to receive their prize within 2 weeks. Judges' decisions are final.
  15. Winners agree to allow their name and town to be published in the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era and any other Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. publication or website following the contest.
  16. If the specified prize(s) becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. may substitute a prize(s) of like or equal value.
  17. Should a winner be unable to accept a prize, another ornament will be chosen as the winner for that category.
  18. Winners are responsible for all taxes on prizes won and will be required to fill out and sign a form that includes name, address, telephone, signature and social security number in order for the prize to be released. If this form is not filled out, or the winner refuses to fill out this form, the winner's entry becomes invalid and another entry will be immediately be chosen from among all entries received to choose a new winner.
  19. Ornaments mailed in for this contest will not be returned. Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. does not accept responsibility for lost or damaged ornaments.
  20. Ornaments turned in for this contest may be used for display at Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. or at another nearby building in downtown Lancaster during the holiday season and for a period of time up to January 31, 2010.
  21. Employees of Steinman Enterprises and Stauffer's of Kissel Hill and their household members are not eligible to play.
  22. Full contest rules & regulations may be found on LancasterOnline.com, keyword: Holiday Ornament. Should any individual not have access to the Internet, they may access LancasterOnline through free computers available at libraries and Internet cafes, or they may pick up a printed copy at Lancaster Newspapers offices in downtown Lancaster from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday during the contest dates.
  23.
